South Kashmir youth’s exemplary social work wins heart of people

Anantnag,02 June: The secret to living is giving . Mudasir is one such young believer ,who has been contributing to the well being of others in order to find more meaning in life. Hailing from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district ,Mudasir Ahmed Dar (26) has been following his fathers footsteps when it comes to the welfare of the society.
Mudasir’s father suffered a brain stroke last year after which he developed complications and was paralaysed for a month. But Mudasir was not down in the dumps. He continued with his social work without a break, balancing family and society, towards which he feels equal responsibility.
Dar joined SOS Mission when he was a student of the 9th class. Hailing from a small hamlet of Mughalpora in Pulwama, Mudasir Dar, an MBA graduate is now on a mission to serve the destitute and needy people of society in the harshest of circumstances. During the last year’s COVID-19 lockdown, Mudasir travelled miles from his village to different parts of Kashmir, from North to Center and south Kashmir, providing relief kits to around 500 families.
In 2020, every sphere of life had come to a standstill across Kashmir and education was no exception. With the already crumbling and weak education system in Kashmir, Mudasir Dar became a ray of hope for thousands of students. While he was on a mission to distribute food & medicines among the poor & needy at their door steps, he found children enquiring about not having enough study material at home. He decided to take the task head on and distributed the study material including text books, notebooks, notes, selected references and other stationery free of cost to students having no access to the internet and other resources..
He also distributed a dozen of sewing machines to the poor women with an aim to provide employment opportunity by manufacturing face masks etc.
Remarkably, during the 2014 floods in Kashmir, Mudasir had been at the fore front to help people by reaching out to them through an NGO “Sajid Iqbal foundation”. In 2019 he had been on the task of making houses for the homeless widows who were living a miserable life in tin sheds through a local NGO.
Keeping a record to reach the maximum number of families who are in need, Mudasir has so far distributed food kits among 300 families, 2500 three-layer masks among elderly people and chronic patients. In the recent past, he was seen Counseling Youth of Valley about Drug Addiction, and had counseled a large number of young people to bring them on the righteous path.
“I was on a path, where I would have sold everything because of the Drug addiction . However, Dar helped me to overcome the addiction of drugs .He helped me to quit drugs, said one of the Drug addicts while talking to Arising state.
Another drug addict who wished anonymity said,’ I would have been dead some six months ago,but thank Almighty, Dar put my life back on track .Today I am living a peaceful and healthy life.’
Meanwhile. Mudasir, seen as the “guardian of peace”, while talking to Arising State said, “I am born to help others in whatever capacity I can. I get peace of mind while living my life for others and saving young boys from Drugs.
Mudasir Dar is Presently the Field Manager of “The Sajid Iqbal Foundation, an organization that works for “peace and human Rights He has been conferred With “the Rajya Puraskar” Award (Governor Award) in World Scouting, He achieved another feat in the year 2014 when he was conferred “the Rashtrapati Award” (President Award) in World Scouting in the field Of Social Service. In 2020, Mudasir got featured in Enerzal India, among six unsung heroes across India who have done exemplary work for society during COVID lockdown.
