Promotion of boxing game at district levels need of the hour, says young athlete Shariya Manzoor

Pulwama: A young athlete from Pulwama district of Southern Kashmir has been striving hard to make a professional career in boxing game for years, and wants it to be promoted at district levels.

Shariya Manzoor, a martial art player from Nehama village of Pulwama is an emerging athlete, who started her journey in 2018, “but faced hardships in the begining.”

The ‘support of father’ and ‘confidence’ to play at National level however never stopped Shariya to achieve all what she desired for.

The player braving all odds managed to play martial art games including Thang-Ta, Taekwondo and other games
at Jammu Kashmir as well as national level, with a desire to make a professional career in boxing.

“Besides other games, i play boxing regularly. Although, I faced hardships in the beginning, as I was the lone boxing player from Pulwama, and wasn’t getting place in any team, but my father’s support and desire to play at national level never let me down,” Shariya told Arising State.

She said that she managed to play martial art games at Karnatka, Delhi and other states and has won many medals so far.

The athlete however ,wants to see herself leading in the boxing game, with good infrastructure and support from governement in introducing and promoting this sport at district levels, like other games.

She thanked her father for giving all the support, and added that she is currently practicing at Lion’s Den academy Pulwama, which is private martial arts academy in Pulwama.
