4 young female candidates in fray to contest the DDC elections in Anantnag District

Anantnag 20, Nov: 4  young female candidates are in the fray to contest the upcoming DDC elections in South Kashmir’s Anantnag District.

The first phase of DDC Elections begins on November 28, and things already seem to be heating up, with contesting candidates up for campaigns in the whole Anantnag District.

According to official sources several women candidates had been given party tickets by major political parties to contest upcoming DDC elections in the Anantnag district which are scheduled to be held from November 28.

The Arising state tried to reach the female candidates who are going to contest the DDC elections from the two constituencies’ Kokernag and Shangas area of Anantnag District. According to sources at least, 10 female candidates from both constituencies are contesting the DDC elections, 4 female contestants are young and also are going to contest maiden elections against these women. Besides this, there are several male candidates from both constituencies who are going to contest the elections.

Take a look at some young female candidates, in the fray to contest maiden DDC elections

Sabhat Gulzar (Congress candidate) Young, just 23, well-educated (pursuing an LLB at Kashmir University)She is the daughter of former MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani. She is contesting her maiden election as an independent candidate from the Shangas area.

Gulzar hails from the Chittergul Shangas area and has been given a party ticket by Congress to contest the DDC elections.

Gulzar talks about the need to help people and work towards the development of her area. Talking to Arising state Sabhat Gulzar said that women are no less than men. I convinced my father and my family for contesting the elections, as I have always wanted to help my community, Sabhat said.

Sabreena Mushtaq (Independent candidate) young,31, an artist by profession. She hails from Kothair Shangas area contesting her maiden election as an independent candidate from Shangas. Sabreena while talking to Arising State said that she wants to help people and wants to become their voice. I was not supported by any major political party. I will contest this election as an independent candidate. Sabreena said, ”our people face challenges day in and day out. I want to support them and raise their voice. I have struggled a lot in my life. It is a record that till date not a single major party MLA has visited our village. Political leaders here never gave chance to the young generation to come forward, so here people are supporting me to contest this election and become their voice. Sabreena said.

Muneera Akhter (Independent Candidate) another young candidate, just 22, hails from Desoo Kokernag,set to contest her maiden DDC election from the Desoo Larnoo area of kokernag. The reason behind  Muneera’s contesting election is to support their Gujjar and Bakerwal Community. Talking to Arising state Muneera said that their community has always been oppressed by the government. ”I want to support my community and want to develop the area in Desoo Larnoo area of kokernag. According to Muneera she has good faith to win this election and has good support from people in their Larnoo block area.

At least five women contestants have filed their nomination forms in Larnoo block for DDC elections, among the five Muneera is the youngest female contestant who is going to fight against these four women in Larnoo block, Muneera mentioned.

Salma Jameel (Independent candidate) 29, hails from BradAngan Utrasoo area of Shangas in Anantnag District is contesting her maiden election. Salma’s reason behind contesting the election is to work towards the development of the area. Salma feels that their area is neglected by the government. Salma appealed the young and old people of their area to come forward to fight for their rights and set an example to aid development in their area.
