Injured Hizb militant arrested in Anantnag gunfight
An early morning encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in the Sangam area of Anantnag on Thursday resulted in the arrest of a militant, identified as Zaheer Abbas lone resident of Pulwama according to a police official.
According to a police official, he was arrested in an injured condition during the encounter in Gund Baba Khaleel village. He has been shifted to the hospital for treatment, an official told KNS.
Pertinently, Rozy Jaan wife of the injured militant passed away a week back due to a heart attack. The deceased had ‘complained of chest pain and was subsequently shifted to District Hospital Pulwama where doctors declared her brought dead.
Zaheer joined Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit last month. He recently released some audio clips, which went viral on social media. Zahoor was heard praising his wife in one of such clips and appealing the armed forces to not involve his family members in his decision of joining the militancy. As per the sources, Zahoor’s elder brother was also a militant and was killed in a gunfight two decades back. Injured Zaheer is the father of a daughter and a son.
The condition of the militant is stated to be “critical”.
