Wife of jailed Hurriyat leader Ayaz Akbar passes away in Srinagar
The ailing wife of jailed Hurriyat (G) leader and spokesman Ayaz Akbar passed away at her Maloora HMT residence in Srinagar, late at night on Thursday.
According to the family, the deceased was suffering from cancer for the past couple of years. She was undergoing treatment at SKIMS soura, Noora Hospital.
The family told local news agency that they had applied for interim bail of the Hurriyat leader many times, but was always rejected.
Ayaz Akbar was arrested in July 2018 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) over the alleged militant funding case. He along with some top Hurriyat leaders is languishing in New Delhi’s Tihar jail.
