What happened to Sharf-e-Saqafat award for Rahman Rahi announced by former CM Mehbooba Mufti: Soz

Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Former Union Minister today said he recently dialed for Nosheen Rahi (daughter of Rehman Rahi) to enquire about Rahi Saheb’s health, but, it landed me directly with Rahi Sahib himself, who after some pleasantries, came directly to the Sharf-e-Saqafat Award that had not been offered to him inspite of its announcement by the then Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and subsequent large scale coverage in the press both at the national level and the state level.Rahi Saheb expected me to raise this issue before the people of Kashmir.Then, I raised this issue with the Lt. Governor Shri. Manoj Sinha today and earnestly requested him that since the Govt. is a running institution, Rahman Rahi be awarded the Sharf-e-Saqafat by the Union Territory Govt., as early as possible.I hope the award ceremony will be fixed soon and the Sharf-e-Saqafat will reach Rahman Rahi.It is my expectation that the Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha will take personal interest in this issue of public importance.”
