Tral, 07 Nov: Inhabitants of Zajikhowed-Ourigund village in the Tral sub-district of South Kashmir are gripped by an acute drinking water crisis.
The aggrieved residents told Arising State that the villagers have been facing hardships as potable water was not being supplied sufficiently in the village and they usually fetch contaminated water from nearby places. The agitated villagers complained about the erratic water supply in the area. ”Adding, they were getting water through a tanker, from the PHE (Jal Shakti) department, however, for the last few days, the tanker has disappeared leaving people clueless as to how to manage in absence of water during the bone-chilling cold.
A resident said, “we are not getting clean drinking water supply, for over a month, despite repeated pleas before the authorities”. He further said that the concerned officials assured villagers about the redressal of the issue, but their tall claims only fell short.
The residents appealed to the higher authorities to issue necessary directions to the officials for providing clean water supply in the area.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tral, SA Raina told Arising State that he will immediately look into the matter.
