Vice Chancellor IUST, chairs meeting of IQAC

Awantipora, Oct. 4 – The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at IUST met today under the Chairmanship of Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor. The meeting was attended by Prof Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Naseer Iqbal, Registrar, Mr Sameer Wazir, Finance Officer, Mr Javed Anim Managing Director, ARCO cements, Mr Faiz Bakshi, General Secretary KCCI and other academic and Industry experts.

The committee reviewed the progress and the participants discussed the future course of action. Speaking on the Occasion, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo said that institutionalising Quality Culture has become an imperative. He appreciated the role of IQAC in suggesting quality improvement measures across different aspects of work in the University. He said that in the face of challenges thrown up by technological advancements, global issues like environmental crises, energy deficiency, climate change, employability concerns etc., HEIs have a critical role in informed policy making and implementation. He outlined different initiatives undertaken at IUST such as, Industry compatible Curriculum designed on the basis of inputs from the Industry representatives to ensure employability of the youth while also allowing them the freedom to steer their academic journeys and explore their potential and talent, under Design your Degree programme.

Among the different issues discussed, the Committee also stressed on organizing more training sessions and workshops on innovative pedagogy for faculty, organizing, quality assurance workshops for faculty and administration cadres, strengthening the Student Advisory System, exploring scope for collaborations across institutions etc.
