Valley shuts down to protest attacks on Kashmiris across State
A complete shutdown was observed across the valley in view of the attacks on people of Kashmir in Jammu and other places of the country.The shutdown call was given by trade bodies and economic alliance forum, Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Forum .Normal life was disrupted in Kashmir on Sunday due to the shutdown against attacks on people of Kashmiri origin in Jammu and other parts of India following protests over Pulwama bombing.
All shops and other commercial establishments remained closed in Srinagar, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, and elsewhere in the valley .Public and private transport was off the roads and internet services also remained suspended across the valley on Sunday.
The commercial hub of Lal Chowk was completely shut and security forces were seen patrolling the area. Curfew like restrictions in major parts of the city especially the down town area of Srinagar confined people to remain indoors.Issuing the call yesterday, the trade bodies demanded the state government to ensure security of Kashmiris in Jammu and other parts of India who have been targeted following Pulwama bombing on Thursday that left 45 CRPF personnel dead.
The traders also held a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk yesterday after closing their shops at 3 pm.
