‘Unknown vehicle’ leaves bear & her baby dead in Awantipora village
Awantipora,05Nov: ‘Unknown vehicle’ left bear along with her baby dead, in Check Rajpora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir, during the intervening night.
An official has said that they received information that “a bear (mother) and a cub, have been reportedly hit by an unknown vehicle, on-road, near Check Noorpora Awantipora, during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.”
He said the rescue team of the wildlife department has accordingly got both dead bodies of the bear in the custody, for further formalities, including the lodging of the report at police station Awantipora.
The official further said that higher authorities of the wildlife department were informed also, about the incident.
Meanwhile, the department has appealed people to avoid such inhuman activities during driving, particularly in the night hours.
A top wildlife official in the sub district has said that “during night hours, wild animals are crossing the road in order to go back to the forest areas, after the harvest season in the grain fields.”
