Two Terrorists neutralised Iin operation Kanzwular : Army
Srinagar, 15 Jun 2022. On receipt of specific information regarding presence of terrorists in Kanzwular village, Shopian District, a joint cordon and search operation was launched in the area by the Indian Army, JKP and CRPF on 14 June 22 at about 8:20 PM.
Own forces established initial cordon around the suspected cluster of houses in the village which was subsequently strengthened by covering possible escape routes. After confirming the presence of one to two terrorists hiding in one of the houses, the Security Forces started evacuating the civilians in the vicinity, to a safe location. As the civilians were being moved, the terrorists climbed to the roof of the house, opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades. Own troops returned accurate and sustained fire but in order to mitigate casualties to own troops and the civilians, the search party stopped engaging the terrorists and prioritised the evacuation of civilians out of the danger zone, while keeping terrorists under observation.
On positive confirmation of no civilians around the target house, own troops re-established contact with the terrorists utilising well-rehearsed battle drills and accurate fire ensuring minimum collateral damage to property. At about 01:45 AM, terrorists again hurled grenades and used indiscriminate fire to break the cordon, but were engaged with precision and effective fire by own troops, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists. Own troops commenced search of the area and recovered one AK rifle, one pistol and other warlike stores from the encounter site.
As per the JKP, the two neutralised terrorists belonged to LeT tanzeem and they have been identified as Tufail Ahmad Ganie resident of Ramnagri, Shopian and Jaan Mohd Lone resident of Braripura, Shopian.
