Tral, 16 Apr: As the fasting period began on Wednesday,  the unscheduled power cuts seem to have no end in the Tral subdivision of South Kashmir.

On one hand, authorities have assured people of providing all facilities in the month of Ramadan, while on the other hand people in Tral and adjoining areas have been resenting unscheduled power cuts from PDD authorities.

Unscheduled cuts during Ramadan have particularly angered residents. During the month, Muslims fast during daylight hours, putting extra importance on having the power to cook just before dawn and just after dusk.
One of the residents on Friday said that only 5 or 10 minutes power supply is being provided to people here, at the time of Iftaar and Sehri.

Another resident said that PDD authorities have failed to mitigate the power crisis in Tral, “as power cuts were witnessed even on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, Shabi-Barat and Baisakhi.”

Similarly, in uptown Tral, a delegation of locals have said that people are facing hardships with each passing day, but no power schedule is being followed by the department.

The residents have sought immediate intervention of higher-ups into the matter and demanded an end to power cuts.

ADC Tral, SA Raina, assured that steps to ensure electricity as per schedule shall be implemented soon.
