Traffic advisory issued in Srinagar ahead of Amit Shah’s visit
Traffic Police Srinagar city on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory for motorists in view of the visit of VVIP to SKICC on 26th and 27th of June 2019. According to the advisory, no Motorist shall be allowed to ply towards Nishat, Shalimar, Harwan and adjacent areas via. Badyari Chowk and Gupkar. Similarly, no traffic shall be allowed to ply from Ram Munshibagh towards Grand Place and shall be diverted towards Dalgate-Khayam for their respective destinations on 26th and 27th June 2019. “Likewise, motorists intending to travel from Harwan-Shalimar-Nishat, Ganderbal and other adjacent areas towards Lalchowk are requested to travel via Hazratbal-Lalbazar route instead of Foreshore-Boulevard road axis to reach respective destinations. Motorists intending to travel from Dalgate, Lal Chowk and adjacent areas towards HarwanShalimar-Nishat shall adopt Nowpora-Khayam-Rainawari via Dargah-Zakoora to reach their respective destinations,” the advisory read. According to Traffic police, vehicles of the tourists who are residing in Dal and Nishat area and emergency service vehicles are exempted from the said restriction, however, they are advised to restrict their movement to bear minimum requirement on boulevard-foreshore road axis. According to the advisory, the timing for the traffic restriction as ordered by District Magistrate Srinagar will be from 08:00 A.M to 10:30 P.M on 26 June 2019 and 07:00 A.M to 04:00 P.M on 27 June 2019. Pertinently, Amit Shah was scheduled to visit the Valley for a day on June 30.”The visit has been advanced due to the home minister’s busy schedule connected with the Union Budget. The Home Minister will chair a high-level security meeting in Srinagar during his visit. He will also address Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and Panchayat members separately during this visit,” sources said.
“He will also meet Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Satya Pal Malik, and discuss the prevailing security scenario in the state with the governor,” sources added. According to sources, Amit Shah will be visiting slain SHO Arshid Ahmed Khan’s residence who was killed in a Fidayeen attack in Anantnag on 12 June attack.
“Amit Shah will also pay obeisance at the Shri Amarnathji Shrine during his visit. This will be his first visit to J&K after he took over as the home minister of the country,” sources said.
Amit Shah is not visiting the Jammu or the Ladakh divisions of the state during tomorrow’s visit.
