Srinagar, August 29: Security forces have reportedly killed three militants during two separate anti-militancy operations in the Kupwara district of North Kashmir on Wednesday evening.

According to officials, the operations were launched by troops from the 57 Rashtriya Rifles and 53 Infantry Brigade based on specific intelligence inputs. The first operation took place in the Kamkari area of the Machil sector, where at approximately 19:40 hours, the movement of infiltrating militants was detected. A firefight ensued, and two militants are believed to have been killed. However, their bodies have yet to be recovered, and the operation is still ongoing.

In a parallel operation in the Tangdhar area, another militant is likely to have been neutralized. The operation was initiated on the night of August 28-29 following intelligence inputs about possible infiltration attempts. The Indian Army confirmed the ongoing operation in a post on social media platform X, noting that one militant is expected to have been killed.

Both operations are continuing as security forces search the areas to confirm the number of casualties and ensure no further threats remain.
