Three local militants killed in Tral encounter: IGP Kashmir
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed the killing of three local militants in Mandoora village of Tral in an encounter with government forces.
Talking to “Kashmir News Service” (KNS), IGP Kashmir said, ” Awantipura Police had received information about the presence of militants and a cordon was laid along with army and other CRPF. As the militants were confirmed in a house by the house owner, they were asked to surrender as per SOP. However, they lobbed grenades and fired on the security forces. In the ensuing encounter three local militants belonging to Hizb ul Mujahideen were killed,” he said.
He added that one of the militants had joined Militancy in August last year and other two joined militancy on Jan Ist after lobbing grenade on SSB personnel on Jan 2nd of this year in which one personnel was injured.
” We had identified Arif Bashir of Monghama throwing grenade and was named in FIR. The other one Waris Hassan of Naibugh has joined in August last year and Syed Asif ul haq of Noorpora Tral”
He added that two Ak-47, one pistol, and two hand grenades were recovered from them.
