Threads of Transformation: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Srinagar Kick-starts 1-month “Vocational training programme” for Tribal youth
Srinagar: In a bid towards sustained women development and empowerment, Krishi Vigyan kendra Srinagar kick started one month vocational training programme on “Cutting, Tailoring and Stitching” at Nagbal Dara (Block Harwan) Srinagar today on 8th of January 2024.
The programme started with the distribution of requisite machinery, tools and training material by Prof.Dil Mohammed Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, among the participating trainees.
The program was attended by Head KVK Srinagar Dr.S.A Simnani, along with team of KVK scientists, village elders, and a representative from the NGO, Mr. Suhail Peerzada, while it is designed to cater to the training needs of unemployed female youth in the area, with emphasis on providing hands-on training in cutting and tailoring for tribal rural girls of the adjoining area.
Main focus of this initiative is to empower participants with practical skills that not only enhance their capabilities in the field but also for self-employment opportunities. Through vocational skills, the program aims to equip these women with the means to secure a better livelihood and faster economic independence.
On the occasion,Head KVK Srinagar, acknowledged the enthusiasm of the participants and assured the participants of every possible technical guidance in addressing the training needs of the female youth of the community..He further urged Dr.Aasima Rafiq,the coordinator of the Programme to encourage & guide the trainees to form SHG to enable their linkage to NR Livelihood Mission for self sustainance.
Director Extension,Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi applauded the role of KVK in organising several programmes aimed at capacity development, skill entrepreneurship, hand on tools, value addition in a bid to provide handholding a step towards self employment & income generation and subsequent self dependence and livelihood security
The participating trainees, village elders and NGO representative appreciated the efforts of KVK Srinagar in organizing such a skill-oriented course within their community.
