The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) on Tuesday emphasized the importance of holding the ruling party accountable, asserting that both the public and media now have the freedom to question the government without fear. Speaking to the media in Srinagar, Farooq Abdullah, a senior NC leader, stated, “The era of fear in questioning those in power is over. Everyone has the freedom to raise issues and hold the government accountable for any wrongdoing. The media can now highlight matters that were previously suppressed.” Referring to the alleged Rs 3,000 crore Jal Shakti fraud, Abdullah assured that “everything will be investigated gradually.” He added, “This is Omar Abdullah’s government, and people have the right to know the truth behind such matters.” Expressing concerns over rising poverty and unemployment, Abdullah called on the government to address these pressing issues and take effective measures to tackle them.Era of Fear is Over: Farooq Abdullah Urges Accountability, Highlights Rising Poverty and Unemployment
