Says we haven not any kind of shortage with regard to ration supply among the bonafied consumers in Anantnag district.

Anantnag: FCS&CA department Anantnag has rebuttal the statement given by Sr BJP leader Syed Wajahat Hussain in Whatsapp groups/Social media platforms reporting shortage of rice for people for marriage purposes . In this context it is to intimate that the statements given by the BJP leader is spurious and hoaxes as there is not any kind of shortage in District Anantnag with regard to ration supply among the bonafide consumers. The factual position is elaborated as under:-

It is clarified that district Anantag has 186565 families comprising of 786140 beneficiaries falling under various categories who are being supplied PDS rations on monthly basis through bio-metric authentication through a chain of 546 sale outlets. During the months of May and June 2023, above 98% of the beneficiaries have received 38317.04 Qtls and 38311.65 Qtls of rice respectively , the details of which are available in www. epos.jk.gov.in/Scheme_Sale_Interface.jsp . It is further clarified that there is no additional supply for marriages and other functions .

People who spend lakhs on Wazwan should understand that the ration supplied by the department is subsidized and for poor only . Therefore they are requested to purchase rice for their functions from the nearest market as there is no provision within the department to provide ration for individual functions.

Therefore through the medium of this rebuttal general public is informed that there is no shortage of rice in Anantnag. People may receive their monthly ration quota whenever they wish as they used to receive in the past through biometric authentication only ,the statement reads.
