Sopore Hospital’s Operation Theatre Sealed Over Alleged Surgery Mix-Up
Probe Underway, Strict Action Assured: ADC Sopore
Sopore, Feb 06: Authorities have sealed the operation theatre of a private hospital in north Kashmir’s Sopore after a case of alleged medical negligence, in which a woman admitted for ear surgery reportedly underwent an unintended hysterectomy.
Sources revealed that the woman was receiving treatment at Hakim Sonuallah Hospital under a specific doctor’s care and was scheduled for an ear surgery. However, in the doctor’s absence, another medical professional allegedly performed the procedure, mistakenly removing her uterus.
Following widespread public outrage, authorities took swift action and sealed the hospital’s operation theatre, citing serious lapses in medical protocols.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation and have issued notices to the hospital management, doctors, and staff to provide their explanations. Preliminary findings indicate that this operation theatre should not have been functional in the first place, leading to its sealing,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, SA Raina.
He assured that a comprehensive probe is underway and that strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
