Soil & Conservation Deptt. destroys hundreds kiker trees in Kralgund, local aghast
Residents of Dedarpora, Kralgund Qaziabad in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Sunday expressed strong anger against Soil & Water Conservation Department and alleged the dept. destroyed hundreds of Kiker trees in the nurseries established in the area.
According to reports, the Department of Soil & Water Conservation has established a nursery in Dedarpora in the year 2008 and around 10000 trees were planted vested on 10 kannals of land.
Reports said recently the officials of the concerned department used the JCB machine on the said nursery and damaged 500 trees. Sources said that the soil in the nursery was also taken for some personal use, the question is the department spent a lot of money on the construction of the nursery, however, later damaged the property raising several questions.
Locals appealed Director Soil & Water Conservation PK Singh to conduct the inquiry into the matter and take strict action against the involved persons.
However When we tried to contact CCF North Kashmir Irfan Rasool and District soil and water conservation Farhat Sidiq they didn’t respond to calls made by this office.
