Social forestry holds plantation drive in GDC Tral

Tral, 06 March: A plantation drive was held in Govt Degree College (GDC) Tral on Saturday, in which scores of saplings of different species were planted.

The drive was launched by the Social forestry department, in presence of its Regional Director, Kashmir, Mehraj Ud Din Malik, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Pulwama, Manzoor Ahmad, and Principal of GDC Tral, BA Mir.

During the drive, saplings were jointly planted by the employees of Social forestry, college students, and the staff members.

On that occasion, Regional Director, Social forestry, Mehraj Ud Din Malik said that they have chosen around sixty institutions, road avenues, degraded forests, and other spots for the plantation this year, under the green India mission.

He said that around 7 lac saplings are being planted in total, with almost 2.5 lac saplings already planted.

The official further said that this drive will continue till the end of March, and assured that they will achieve the target of about 6.5 lac plantation, under all the schemes.
