Snow wreaks havoc in south kashmir, major villages cut off from Anantnag district

Anantnag: Massive snowfall here has thrown life out of gear, with the majority of villages areas cut off from the district headquarters here in Anantnag town. While authorities failed to clear the snow from roads.

Reports reaching  Arising state that majority of the main roads of villages are still covered with snow as the authorities did not bother to clear them. However, officials claimed they have cleared the main roads while the interior roads are being cleared too.

Talking to Arising state People complained that they faced immense hardships due to the absence of transport as a result of snow-covered roads.

Transport remained drastically affected in most parts of Anantnag district. People mostly patients had to face immense hardships.

The patients in many villages had to be ferried by people on shoulders as the transport and ambulances struggled to ply on road due to snow,” reports said.

Amid snowfall, Anantnag locals carry a patient on their shoulders due to snow on the roads/unclear roads.

“Unclear snow on the streets forced attendents of patients to walk for more than 3 Kilometres, from Seepan village with carrying patient on their shoulders to reach GMC Anantnag, a local told to Arising state

However the transport on Anantnag Kokernag Dooru Verinag Kapran road remained off due to snow,” locals said. They said all interior roads are covered with heavy snow.

Reports said that in various places in Anantnag District the snowfall damages the electric poles also results the power breakdown.

People from Dialgam, Kamad, wanihama villages also complained they were facing lot of problems as the roads remain covered with snow.

They said that people were forced to ferry the patients on their shoulders as there was no transport available.

Locals request district Administration to look into the matter and clear the roads of villages
