Srinagar, Oct 05: While demanding immediate revocation of the three-tier shift, several paramedics of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura on Monday protested against the hospital administration and said paramedics will move to court if the order is not nullified immediately.

Talking to local news service, several paramedics of SKIMS assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged a peaceful protest against the hospital authorities for executing a “three-tier” work schedule in the hospital.
Protesting paramedics said no hospital across Jammu and Kashmir other than SKIMS Soura has made the life of paramedics “disturbed” while imposing a three-tier work schedule. They said earlier two-tier work schedule was smoothly functioning in the hospital and all departments were running without obstacles.
They alleged that hospital administration imposed a three-tier shift “forcibly” upon us and made the life of paramedics “disturbed”. “Our domestic life has been badly suffered, families also disturbed as we are reaching homes late night”, protesting paramedics said.
“I’m 8 months pregnant but still I am leaving the hospital 08:30 pm while reaching home at 09:30 pm. The schedule has badly ruined my personal life and family members as well”, Jameela a protesting paramedic said.
Another paramedic said that manifold issues have devastated us but authorities are paying no heed to our demands. “Covid-19 pandemic, winters, political & security disturbances and the dearth of staff like manifold issues have devastated our life. Also, the non-availability of transport services during late hours has further added to our problems”, she said.
They said despite repeated communications and representation to Director SKIMS A G Ahanger and MS SKIMS, the concerned officials paid a deaf ear to our pleas. They said if authorities don’t concentrate on our pleas, we have no alternative other than to move to court.
“If our demands are not heard and solved, we will move to court”, paramedics said.
