Section-144 imposed in Dooru Anantnag after water Pipeline brawl

Water Pipe line Brawl: section 144 imposed at Dooru Verinag tehsil after verinag villagers refused to lay down water pipeline towards Dooru.

Anantnag: SDM verinag Ghulam Rasool wani issued an order on Wednesday and imposed section 144 in Dooru verinag tehsil after the verinag villagers allegedly refused to laid down the water pipelines towards Dooru from verinag spring here in South kashmir area of Anantnag district.

According to reports, minor stone pelting has also been reported in verinag town,

Awkaf Committe Verinag president Farooq Ahmad Khan told Arising State that the administration is making us suffer, this is the height of injustice. We are not against the laying down of water pipelines for villagers. We are asking them not to lay down 18-inch pipelines, which as a fact of matter can affect other villages.

President Awkaf said that they are not  inhuman and dont have any malice against anyone. ”They have already diverted a water canal through MC Verinag so that they can take clean water. Sadly, the administration has imposed restrictions, creating tension in the area. ”

”I would like them to come to the table so that we can solve this problem. I don’t want the two areas to be in conflict,” he said.

”The Awkaaf body wishes to meet with deputy commissioner Anantnag, but he didn’t give us time. While it was not a dire situation, according to the president, an administrative situation like article 370 had been created by enforcing section 144 in the area.

In addition, he added, ”we will not permit them to lay down the 18-inch pipe through the canal, but if they repair it, we will allow them and won’t mind”.

Notably, Vering spring water quenches the thirst of several adjoining villages of Verinag and Dooru and irrigates the land too.

Meanwhile, Ghulam Rasool wani SDM Dooru while talking to the media, said that we have implemented section 144 in Dooru Verinag areas so that no untoward incident takes place in the area. He further added ,”though minor clashes had been reported in the Verinag water source spot, but later the security forces had maintained law and order,” he said.
