School building used as polling place, set on fire in Shopian by unknown arsonists

Shopian: A day before the  last phase of the Lok Sabha polls for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, unknown arsonists set a govt school building on fire ,housing a polling booth, in South Kashmir’s Shopian district overnight,according to reports .Sources  said that during intervening night of May 4 and 5, government school located In Rivulet at Dompora village of Shopian was set on  fire. The rooftop of the school building was damaged fully and a building adjacent to it also suffered minor damages in the fire.Officials said that investigations are underway . “Apparently it seems that the school building was set on fire. Whether it is so will be investigated. Also other angles will be looked into,” said a police official. Shopian and Pulwama districts are going to polls in the last phase of the elections in Jammu and Kashmir along with Ladakh.
