Rain, Snow Likely Across Kashmir in Next 8 Hours; Widespread Activity Forecast Today
Srinagar, February 10: Rain and snowfall are expected at most places across Kashmir during the next eight hours, with snowfall likely over middle and upper reaches, including a few plains, weather observers said.
Good snow accumulation is anticipated in higher altitudes. Meanwhile, plains of Jammu may experience light rain showers accompanied by gusty winds, while upper reaches of the Jammu division are likely to receive light snowfall during the same period.
According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), widespread light to moderate rain, snow and thunderstorms are forecast across Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. The department has also issued a warning for isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions today.
Weather data shows that maximum and minimum temperatures have remained above normal in many parts of both divisions over the past 24 hours. Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.4°C, while Jammu registered comparatively warmer conditions.
The outlook for the subsequent two days indicates isolated to dry weather conditions after the current system passes. Officials said any change in the intensity or track of the weather system will be updated accordingly.
