Police arrests 06 drug peddlers in Srinagar and Budgam; Contraband substances recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Srinagar and Budgam and recovered psychotropic and contraband substances from their possession.

A statement reads, in Srinagar, officers at a checkpoint established at Garikadal Hamdanya Colony intercepted a vehicle Swift bearing registration No. JK01AK-2862 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Owais Ahmad Malik resident of Nundrish Colony Batamaloo, Furqan Ahmad Wani and Manzoor Ahmad Khan both residents of Hamdanya Colony Bemina Srinagar. During checking, officers were able to recover 180 tablets of Tapentodol 75mg from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated.

Similarly in Budgam, Officers from Police Station Budgam on a checkpoint established at New Bus Adda Budgam intercepted a vehicle Wagnor R bearing registration No. DL5CN-1322 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Arshid Ahmed Dar resident of Farishigund Dharmuna, Reyaz Hussain Mir resident of Main Budgam, and Sajad Ahmed Bhat resident of Narkara Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.90 grams of heroin, 110 grams of Charas, and 264 capsules of Sposmoproxovan from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.21/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and an investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
