PM Modi on Operation Sindoor: “Terror and Talks Cannot Go Together”
India hits back at terror with precision; PM hails armed forces, warns Pakistan, and sets new benchmarks in anti-terror strategy.
New Delhi, May 12:In a strongly worded address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the Indian armed forces for their decisive and courageous execution of Operation Sindoor — a massive counter-terror strike targeting militant infrastructure across the border in Pakistan.
Hailing the bravery and determination of Indian soldiers, Modi said, “I salute the valiant forces of India, our intelligence agencies, and our scientists. This operation is dedicated to every mother, sister, and daughter of the country.”
The Prime Minister referred to the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 as “barbaric” and “painful”, stressing that the killing of innocents based on religion was an assault on India’s unity. In response, India launched a precise counter-offensive that dismantled key terror hideouts and training camps deep inside Pakistani territory.
“More than 100 dreaded terrorists were eliminated in one stroke. Their sanctuaries — in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and other hubs of global terror — were flattened. Pakistan never expected this scale of retaliation,” he said.
Modi accused the Pakistani establishment of harboring terrorism, noting that even top Pakistani army officers came to bid farewell to slain terrorists — a clear proof, he said, of state-sponsored terror.
“Operation Sindoor has created a new normal,” said the Prime Minister. “India will retaliate on its terms. Nuclear blackmail will not deter us. We will strike at the roots of terrorism wherever they lie.”
The Prime Minister underscored that the operation also demonstrated the strength of indigenous defense production. “Made-in-India weapons have proven their precision and superiority in 21st-century warfare.”
In a strong message to the global community, Modi reiterated India’s position: “Terror and talks cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go together. Water and blood cannot flow together. If there are talks with Pakistan, it will only be on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.”
Speaking on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Modi concluded, “The path of peace also goes through power. For a peaceful and developed India, we must be strong and act when necessary — and that is exactly what we have done.”
