PIB Mumbai Hosts J&K Media Delegation, Showcasing India’s Cinematic and Cultural Strength
Mumbai, Oct 7: In a warm display of traditional hospitality, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Mumbai welcomed a visiting media delegation from Jammu and Kashmir at the Mumbai Airport with colourful turbans and heartfelt smiles.
The media outreach tour, organized by PIB Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Neha Jalali, Director, PIB Jammu, is part of the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen media connect and promote national integration.
During their visit, the delegation toured the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), where senior officials interacted with the journalists and shared insights about NFDC’s legacy and contribution to Indian cinema. Established in 1975 under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the NFDC has played a key role in financing and promoting meaningful Indian films and managing prestigious platforms like the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and the Cinevesture International Film Festival.
NFDC Managing Director Prakash Magdum highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s rising appeal in the world of cinema.
“Jammu and Kashmir offers everything a filmmaker desires — breathtaking landscapes, creative talent, and untold stories,” he said, adding that the NFDC plans to organize a dedicated film festival in the Union Territory to showcase its cinematic potential.
Later, NFDC Chairman briefed the media team about the corporation’s future vision, emphasizing its commitment to promoting regional storytelling and fostering international collaborations.
The delegation also visited the NFDC Museum of Indian Cinema, where they explored the evolution of Indian filmmaking through rare photographs, vintage cameras, editing and sound equipment, and other historic memorabilia. Housed within the iconic Films Division complex, the museum preserves over a century of India’s cinematic journey — from the silent era to the age of digital filmmaking.
The engagement with NFDC, along with the earlier visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), reflects India’s dual strengths — its economic growth through maritime excellence and cultural influence through cinema. Jammu and Kashmir, with its unique blend of natural beauty and creative promise, continues to emerge as a vibrant hub for both.(KNS)
