Peaceful protest held in Thanamandi for opening of Mughal road

Rajouri,25 Sept 2020: As part of its peaceful protests against the unreasonable and unjustified bottlenecks being created in the smooth functioning of the Mughal Road, the Mughal Road Action Committee (MAC) led by Mir Shahid Saleem staged a peaceful protest at Behrot, Thanamandi for the immediate opening and restoration of the Mughal Road. Speaking on the occasion Chairman Mughal Road Action Committee, Mir Shahid Saleem said that there was a deep conspiracy against the normal functioning of the road. He said ever since it was conceived the Mughal Road project has been a victim of conspiracies. He said ever since its inauguration in 2009 it remained closed most of the time on one or the other pretext and now the excuse of COVID -19. He said when all roads and highways are open for the normal movement of traffic, the Mughal road still remains closed for unknown reasons. He said the Mughal Road was a lifeline for the economy and business of the Pirpanchal region as it boosts economic activities. But its closure has badly hit the economy of the Pirpanchal region. He also rejected the order by authorities to seek permission from the Div. to travel on the road as it was unreasonable and unjustified and just to defeat the purpose of opening the route. Prominent among those who took part in the protest included Shabir Rather Chairman Iqra Foundation, Qayoom Naik Convenor Sirsyed High School, Muhammad Rafiq Rather convenor Iqra Public School, Muhammad Rafiq Dar PDP leader, Mufti Riaz Dar, Chowdahy Rashid, and others.
