TRAL, 04, NOV: Intensifying the drive against power theft, Power Development Department (PDD), under the instructions of higher-ups, conducted multiple inspections, in the Tral subdivision of South Kashmir.

As per the official, many inspection teams were constituted for the purpose, which were headed by some engineers and other field staff.

Witnesses said that a large number of houses were inspected particularly in Seer, Pastuna, Nehar, Diver, Satoora, and Handoora villages.

They said that most of the people were found using the illegal heaters and boilers, with bypassed service lines.

One of the PDD officers, namely Harminder Singh, told Arising State that all the heaters and boilers were recovered from the violators, and were accordingly destroyed.

He said that illegal service lines were also removed, and appealed people to avoid the power pilferage activities, and let the department serve people in a better way.

The officer added that power pilferage may otherwise result in the damage of transformers, snapping of wires, and interruption of HT lines, due to overload.
