Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs to Arrive on Six-Day Visit to J&K from April 26
Srinagar, April 19:A high-level Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir from April 26 to May 1, as part of a detailed review and assessment tour of the Union Territory.
The 31-member panel, headed by Dr. Radha Mohan Das Aggrawal, a senior Rajya Sabha member, includes representatives from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The committee’s visit follows its recent report presented in Parliament on March 6, which featured a range of recommendations aimed at strengthening the economy and expediting infrastructure development across the region.
In anticipation of the committee’s arrival, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has begun making elaborate preparations. As part of the logistical and coordination framework, 25 officers from the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) have been deputed. These officers have been instructed to report to their respective divisional commissioners on April 23 for briefing on their responsibilities during the high-level engagement.
The visit is expected to focus on key issues pertaining to development, law and order, and governance in the Union Territory, and will likely include meetings with senior officials, public representatives, and various stakeholders.
The outcome of the committee’s deliberations during this six-day tour may further shape policy direction and central assistance to the region in the coming months.
