Panic grips valley once again ,this time its not inclement weather, but govt orders

A sudden fear has gripped the whole valley regarding frequent govt. orders being circulated on social media.

On Saturday, Minister of Home Affairs of India (MHA) ordered the deployment of 10,000 paramilitary personnel, ostensibly, for ‘counter-insurgency’ and for maintaining ‘law and order’ in the Valley.

As news of the deployment spread, the people in the Valley assumed that the troops are being deployed to arrest a fallout after the possible scrapping of Article 35A which gives the special status to state subject.

Special flights carrying CAPFs (Central Armed Police Force) have landed at Srinagar airport during the last three days, while convoys carrying additional companies of these forces are reaching the Valley through the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

Over 450 companies of CAPF (40,000 troops) are already deployed for the security of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and other security-related duties in the Valley at present.

The sudden inductions of extra paramilitary personnel and now the frequent orders have created  chaos and uncertainty in the valley people. The govt.is hell-bent upon passing orders and then refuting the same, this not only questions the credibility but the accountability factor of authorities also . ‘ ‘How can official orders ,supposed to be confidential, circulate  in public domain, said Ghulam Rasool,a teacher by profession’.Adding further, the authorities must take the onus or come out clean …

These orders forecast the deteriorating law and order situation in the valley , hence asking people to take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves. Dumping of foodgrains, storing water, medicines, and other essentials at home have panic-stricken the valley people. A large number of people were seen buying ration and other essentials today in Srinagar markets.  ‘ I purchased three months ration including milk cartons and medicines for my ailing grandmother to avert any kind of emergency’, said Tanveer resident of downtown.

National Conference leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah today questioned the motive behind such communiqués that have created panic like situation in Kashmir.

“It’s easy to blame valley residents for fear-mongering but what are we to make of such official orders which forecast a deterioration in the law & order environment and even predict disturbances lasting for an extended period of time? Why is the Govt silent?” Abdullah asked.

These orders, which are being widely circulated on social media, has added to the speculation that the Centre might have plans to do away with Article 35A, which gives exclusive rights to the state’s residents in government jobs and land.

Now time alone will decide the fate of such orders, whether they are fake or real and the motive behind, said a law graduate.
