Panic grips Poonch after failed attempt to kidnap minor

POONCH, Aug 10 In a sensational incident which has sent shock waves among locals, a failed bid to kidnap a minor boy was made in Dungas area of Poonch city; however, the alert mother of the child thwarted the attempt of the abductor.
According to information received from the locals, two days ago an unknown person came on a four-wheeler in Dungas locality and offered chocolate to a child, who went to the unknown person in its lure, adding that suddenly the miscreant then grabbed the child and tried to take him away in his vehicle. However, the alert mother of the child timely raised the alarm and threw stones at the vehicle from the roof of her house after which the person left the child and managed to escape from the spot. Meanwhile, people approached the Reporter and narrated the entire incident, after which the Station House Officer (SHO) Poonch SD Singh and DySP Hq Mudasaar Choudary were contacted and informed about the failed kidnapping attempt. The SHO assured that matter will be investigated and action will be taken against the culprit. People have appealed to District Police Officer, Poonch SSP Ramesh Angral to step up the vigil against anti-social elements, adding that under the guise of coronavirus, some unknown people are in Poonch who are doing the kind of work which could prove fatal for the locals. After the incident came to limelight, the police have beefed up the security and have launched a hunt for mischievous elements while the movement of unknown people is being monitored minutely after the locals raised the issue.
