Pulwama, 16 November: During his visit to Tral sub-district of South Kashmir on Monday, BJP spokesman Kashmir, Altaf Thakur has said that “People’s Alliance For Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) members are afraid of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Kashmir, & have already accepted defeat in Jammu”.

Talking to the Arising State, Thakur said that fear of BJP compelled PAGD members to get allied, “as only weak people need to get allied, and they know BJP is a strong party”.

He further said that “BJP has reached out door to door , to look after the people, particularly the poor men and farmers, and on that basis, the party is expecting votes from people”.

“Gupkar ‘Gang’ has already surrendered in Jammu and is afraid of BJP in Kashmir, due to which they are allied. We have reached door to door in five years and will win 70 plus seats,” Thakur said.

While giving details about the party’s DDC candidate in Tral, Thakur said that they have given chance to schedule tribe (ST) candidate, “as all other parties had used STs as vote banks and had never given them chance to forge ahead.”

Thakur said that only an ST candidate can understand the problems of ST people, therefore by giving a chance to ST candidate, who only can understand the problems of ST people, and hoped that their candidate in Tral will contest the elections with zeal and zest.

In a reply to a question, related to Muzzafar Beigh’s resignation from PDP, he said that it’s an internal matter of PDP, adding that his resignation is an indication that everything is not ok with the Gupkar Declaration.

While concluding, Thakur said that BJP will win the DDC elections with a majority.
