One day awareness programme on ‘Drug De-addiction’ held in Govt High School Awantipora

Pulwama, 24 March: A day-long awareness programme was held on Wednesday in a government school at Awantipora tehsil of Pulwama district.
An official said that a one-day awareness programme titled “Substance abuse/Drug De-addiction through schools” was organised in Government High School Awantipora by Chief Education Officer Pulwama in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office Pulwama.
He said that aim of the programme was to make students aware of the consequences of drug abuse, as this menace is growing rapidly.
He further said that conducting such awareness programmes in schools can play an important role in controlling substance abuse & other social issues, as schools have the potential to make society better.
The programme was attended by the Cultural Coordinator, CEO Office Pulwama, Tariq Abdullah, District Coordinator Women Empowerment, Mehroosa Farooq, Headmaster High School, Ishaq Ahmad Wani, and other dignitaries.
The main speakers of the programme were Aashiq Khanday and Mohammad Mansoor.
Both the speakers shared their valuable opinions with the participants and insisted them to fight against drugs at an individual level.
Pertinently, programmes on Drug de-addiction are being held in nook and corner of the valley for the past few years, thereby making a majority of the people aware of the consequences of drug abuse, and the ways to uproot it from society.
