Tral (Aripal) 05 Dec: Nargistan, the last village in the Aripal tehsil of the Tral sub-district has a historical background, surrounded with lush green forests , but lacks a proper health care facility even in this advanced era, as the health centre constructed in the village has turned pathetic.

The village has recently got good road connectivity in the form of macadamization, and good network connectivity in the form of a mobile tower, however, health care facilities are yet to be upgraded there.

A few years back, the government had sanctioned a health centre building to the village with the motive to ensure proper health care facilities for hundreds of families living there.

As per the official sources, the work on the said project was accordingly started and almost completed, with an estimated cost of more than twenty lac rupees. However, it was ignored later by the concerned authorities, due to which it turned dilapidated .

The pathetic condition of the health centre is leaving residents dismayed now, as they face hardships while taking the patients to Aripal and Tral hospitals, particularly in emergency cases.

One of the residents told Arising State that they “were happy after the construction work on the health centre was started some five years back, as it was running from a rented building”

He said that soon after the centre was completed, govt. failed to throw it open for the public whereas no facility was made available in it, due to which it wore a deserted look and turned obsolete and pathetic.

“We have been waiting for its renovation, but so far no step was taken to make it better. Completion of the health centre with full-fledged medical facilities would mitigate the problems of people in the village,” the resident said.

The locals have demanded immediate intervention of higher-ups into the matter and demanded renovation of the health centre.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tral, SA Raina told Arising State that he has taken a course of the issue and has instructed Block Medical Officer (BMO) Tral to look into the matter, before submitting a report to him.

It’s pertinent to mention here that 60% of votes were polled, in DDC election phase-3, at Nargistan village, on 04th of December, where locals clarified that “motive to cast the votes was only to witness development in the village”.
