Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema calls shutdown on Saturday

Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) has called for a shutdown in Kashmir on Saturday, 16 March against an NIA notice to Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and ban on Jama’at-e-Islami.

Addressing a press conference at Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal, the umbrella body of ulema appealed people to observe shutdown on Saturday against the summoning of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Mufti Azam, Nasir-ul-Islam, who addressed the media, condemned the summoning of Mirwaiz and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.

He also appealed to the people to hold protests on Friday.
