Municipal Committee Tral daily wagers demand regularisation
BASHARAT RASHID
Tral, 19 May: The daily wagers of the Municipal Committee in Tral on Wednesday expressed resentment over the delay in their regularisation process.
A delegation of daily wagers (sweepers) held a strong protest near the Bus Stand area of Tral today raising their demands in view of the Covid-19 situation.
They said that municipal committee workers are the ‘frontline warriors’ of Covid-19, “who have always stayed on the forefront, irrespective of the worst hit in the COVID-19.
One of the workers said, ” municipal workers are most vulnerable who have to risk exposure for a living and their families have suffered a lot when they are busy in sanitization works at quarantine centres and other places.”
He said that many of them turned positive as well, due to which their families faced hardships without any intervention from concerned officials.
The workers believed that “besides incentives for health workers, govt should have made incentive policy for municipality workers as well, as all such workers were leading from the front to fight with Corona-virus.”
They sought intervention of Director urban local bodies and Governor administration into the matter, and demanded regularisation.
