Mughal road reopens for traffic after five months
The historic Mughal road was opened for traffic on Wednesday,with the single lane movement of light motor vehicles allowed to travel from Poonch side.
According to official sources, the decision to open the road was taken after a joint inspection by teams of Mughal Road project authorities, mechanical engineering department and traffic police was conducted on Tuesday wherein the road was found fit for the movement of light vehicles.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in Rajouri Poonch range, Vivek Gupta, Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Ramesh Angral along with other officers of police also visited the road and took stock of the traffic movement.
Notably, the road remained closed for over five months due to unfavourable weather and accumulation of snow on the road.
