Mother and Two Children Feared Missing After Cloudburst in Ramban; School Building, Vehicles Washed Away
Srinagar, Aug 26: A mother and her two children are feared to have been swept away following a devastating cloudburst that struck the Rajgarh tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, has caused widespread destruction in the area.
The cloudburst also led to the destruction of the Government Middle School Gadgram in the Kumait (Kumate) area, as well as a local water mill. Additionally, the flash floods triggered by the cloudburst washed away four vehicles in the Rajgarh area.
Despite the severity of the incident, reports indicate that traffic along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains unaffected.
In response to the disaster, Deputy Commissioner Ramban issued an official statement confirming that rescue teams are on the scene and that the district administration is mobilizing all available resources. The statement urged the public to rely only on official information and to stay safe.
“Cloudburst occurred in Panchayats Kumate, Dhraman, and Halla. Rescue teams are on the spot, and the District Administration Ramban is mobilizing all available resources. We urge everyone to rely only on official information. Stay safe!” the Deputy Commissioner posted on the administration’s official X handle.
