Militant killed, internet snapped in Handwara, Sopore
A militant was killed in a brief gunfight with the security forces in Kralgund area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district last night, police said.
Souces said that the body of the militant was recovered along with a pistol and some grenades.
Police official said that the army’s 32 RR came under fire while laying siege to Badar Payeen village late Wednesday night following inputs about the presence of militants.
The fire, he said was retaliated, leading to an encounter in which the militant was killed.
The officer said that the identity and the group affiliation of the slain militant are being ascertained. Meanwhile the authorities have snapped the mobile internet services in the area including Police District Sopore in wake of “law and order” problems.
