Militant killed in ongoing Shopian gunfight; Internet shut in south Kashmir
A militant was killed in an ongoing gunfight with the security forces at a village in south Kashmir’s poll bound Shopian district on early Friday morning.
A police official said the militants opened fire on the forces from a residential house during a cordon and search operation in Aadkhara village of Imam Sahab area of the district.
He said that the fire was immediately returned, leading to an encounter in which one militant was killed. However,according to sources two millitants among HM top commander have been killed in the brief encounter that took place early morning.
Mobile Internet service was snapped in entire south Kashmir soon after the gunfight broke out. The Shopian district is going to polls on May 6 for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
