Mehran Manzoor from Awantipora shines in 17th Wushu Championship
Awantipora: Mehran Manzoor hailing from Charligund village of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District managed to win Gold Medal in 17th UT Wushu Championship, officials in Procare Academy said.
They said that Mehran played a spectacular game in the said championship, which was held at Jammu, from 22nd to 26th of December, 2023.
“He developed his interest in sports when he was in 8th standard, & played several UT championships. He used to play cricket, wushu, and many more games. Lastly found his interest in Wushu after being inspired by his coaches, Shoaib Amin and Yasir Akbar,” a statement reads.
“Mehran is working hard to persue the dream of winning gold medal in National Wushu Championship with the motive to make his parents, coaches and the whole J&k proud,” it further reads.
“I was interested in sports from the very beginning but I wouldn’t have been able to take a step towards the dream without my family support”, says Mehran.
Currently studying in Hajahad Public School Awantipora, 14-year-old Mehran learnt the basic skills and techniques of Wushu, and started participating in different local tournaments, which helped him to win his first gold medal in UT Wushu Championship.
“I will work hard to fulfil the dream of winning gold in National Wushu Championship to make my J&K proud,” Mehran said.
