Srinagar, Aug 21: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti emphasized the need for peace with dignity, stating that while there may be peace in graveyards, true peace is where people can live with their heads held high. Speaking at the Party Headquarters, she remarked, “There is peace even in the graveyard, but we want peace where people can live, talk, and walk with their heads held high.”

Mehbooba highlighted the prevailing atmosphere of fear, noting that while people may not outwardly show it, they are deeply fearful. She urged for unity to strengthen the voices of the people and advance the party’s mission. “The situation is such that we cannot even talk to each other. There is fear, no one shows it, but everyone is scared from within,” she said.

She also reflected on the legacy of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who she credited with opening a new chapter of progress and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Welcoming the return of a senior leader to the party, Mehbooba expressed optimism for the future, saying, “I hope our PDP agenda and wishes move forward, and God willing, they succeed.”
