Locals come out with shovels to clear roads,dozens of villages still cut off from Anantnag town

Anantnag 07, January: Following heavy snowfall over the past three days, the vital roads in dozens of villages in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have not been cleared yet causing inconvenience to the people.
Several villages of Anantnag district still remain out of bounds due to snow accumulated on link roads. People have been forced to come out on roads with shovels to clear the snow. In kamad, Dialgam, Ganoora, Gundjafar, and adjoining areas, locals cleared the snow after the administration failed to do so for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday.
People from several areas of Anantnag complained that the major link roads are still disconnected from the district headquarter. Mohd Hussain, a resident of kamad Dialgam said that their village is still cut-off from the past five days and authorities have failed to clear the snow, he blamed. Adding that the power supply and water supply in the area have also been hit due to the snowfall and the area is reeling in darkness.
Another resident from Lowermunda, Nisar Ahmad while talking to Arising state said that the authorities have not paid any attention to procure efficient machines for snow clearance in the area. The main road connecting Qazigund to Lowermunda and adjoining villages has also not been cleared yet. ‘We have been totally neglected by the district administration Anantnag, people are stranded and stuck at their places due to blocked roads Nisar, said”.
Meanwhile, Arising state received numerous calls from various villages in Anantnag district including Wani Hama check, Kamad, Schichen, Jafarshi Gund, and other villages regarding total cut off from the district headquarter.
