Baramulla, July 13 : In a historic and emotionally significant development, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, today visited Baramulla district and handed over appointment letters to the Next of Kin (NoKs) of 40 victims of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. This solemn and compassionate gesture marks the beginning of a broader, long-awaited process to deliver justice, recognition, and livelihood support to the families who have silently suffered for decades.

The initiative follows LG Sinha’s meeting with terror victim families in Anantnag on June 29, 2025, where he had assured the families that eligible members would receive jobs within 30 days. True to his word, the LG fulfilled the promise within just 15 days.

Speaking at the event, LG Sinha said,“Terror victim families, forsaken and forgotten, suffered silently for decades. Their loved ones were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. Their stories were deliberately suppressed. No one came forward to wipe their tears or ensure justice. That era is now over.”

He asserted that the government is fully committed to providing justice, jobs, recognition, and rehabilitation to the genuine victims of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking a direct dig at what he termed as “conflict entrepreneurs,” the LG said,“For nearly three decades, these elements ruled the roost. They not only ignored the pain of these families but also propagated a narrative that painted terrorists as victims and India as the aggressor.”“This false narrative has now been demolished. The real victims have spoken. They have exposed Pakistan, terror outfits, and their sympathisers.”

He warned such elements to cease spreading propaganda that endangers the sovereignty and peace of the country.“Some are still working at the behest of Pakistan to nourish the terror-ecosystem. They are disrupting the peace that has been restored with the blood and sweat of security forces and citizens. Legal action will be taken against them.”LG Sinha gave a strong assurance,“the days are over when family members of dreaded terrorists were given government jobs and the killers of common Kashmiris were rewarded. We are identifying such elements and removing them from service. The system will now support only the genuine victims of terrorism.”He also emphasized the importance of doorstep delivery of justice, announcing that the administration will reach out to all victim families and ensure they receive the support they deserve — from employment to housing and livelihood assistance.

LG Sinha informed that dedicated helplines have been set up in every district to record and address grievances of terror victim families, even dating back to the 1990s,“We are receiving hundreds of complaints. In many cases, FIRs were never registered, lands were encroached, and properties destroyed. I assure the people — the culprits will not be spared.”

He also announced that cases involving the killings of Kashmiri Pandits by Pakistan-backed terrorists will be thoroughly investigated. The LG met families who shared heartbreaking stories of their loss. Among them,Wali Mohammad Lone of Fatehgarh village lost three sons — one shot dead while returning from a mosque in 1992, and two others kidnapped by terrorists in 1993 whose bodies were never found,Raja Begum from Lilam village in Kupwara lost her husband, two sons, and a daughter in 1999 after they refused to shelter terrorists. She waited 26 years for justice.“We stand firmly with Raja Begum and all families like hers. The administration is identifying every single family affected by terrorism in J&K,” the LG said.LG Sinha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing about a transformative shift in Jammu and Kashmir.“Under the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s leadership, the Union Territory is scripting a golden chapter of inclusive development, peace, and social justice. We are committed to efficient, transparent, and people-centric governance.”

He urged the media, civil society, and all citizens of India to support this mission of restoring dignity and justice to the victims of terrorism. The event was attended by several senior officials including Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo,DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat,Principal Secretary Home Shri Chandrakar Bharti,Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri,Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Shri Minga Sherpa,Chairman of Save Youth Save Future Foundation Shri Wajahat Farooq Bhat, and other senior officers and members of terror victim families.
