Ladakh administration directs departments to make suo-moto disclosures about their functioning

Srinagar:The administration of Ladakh Union Territory has directed all the public authorities, head of departments and public information officers to make suo -motu disclosures about their functioning as mandated under the Right to Information Act-2005.The general administration department of Ladakh UT has directed the departments to comply with section 4 of the RTI Act, which mandates departments to make suo-moto disclosures about their working“…….It is hereby once again impressed upon all the public authorities, head of the departments/ public information officers to take proactive steps for implementation of the provisions of section 4 of the RTI Act 2005 to make suo -motu disclosure of the details like the particulars of its organization, duties of its officers, rules and regulations, directory of its employees, the details of facilities available to citizens/beneficiaries and citizens charter etc. as prescribed by DoPT circular and other applicable rules/guidelines,” reads the circular .The public authorities have been directed to submit a brief compliance report on disclosure of information relating to organization structure, roles and responsibilities of officials , departmental schemes, procedure for taking benefits of various schemes, citizen charter etc.
The administration has all directed all administrative secretaries to review steps taken in this regard and furnish action taken report by or before December 25 to the GAD.The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training Government of India has issued detailed guidelines from time to time for implementing the provisions of suo-motu disclosure.The Central RTI Act became applicable to J&K and Ladakh UTs from October 31, 2019- the day when J&K bifurcated into two UTs. Before J&K’s reorganistaion, the erstwhile state had its own RTI law enacted by Omar Abdullah-led government
