Srinagar, Jan 3: Senior BJP leader and party’s JK spokesman Altaf Thakur Wednesday said that youth of JK have shown a massive transformation post article 370 abrogation as for the first time, 60 lakh youth participated in the sports events in year 2023. He said that, “the department of youth, services and sports had already geared up its preparations for mega events this year.”
“The plan to lure youth into sports was followed in letter and spirit. A target to involve about 30 lakh students of more than 28 thousand J&K schools was achieved,” Thakur said.
He further said the new initiatives being taken by the Department for the mass participation of students and non-students in sports activities with the involvement of young blood at panchayat and block level was prioritized to ensure that every single boy and girl gets a chance to play.
“It was really an honour truly an honor to see a mega Inter Provincial District Level Hockey tournament on the Hockey synthetic turf at Pulwama on National Sports Day,” Thakur added.
In a statement, Altaf Thakur said, “gone are the days whe youth were seen with stones and guns on roads and at funerals of slain terrorists. The BJP leader said that from Srinagar to Pulwama and from Shopian to Baramulla ti Kupwara, youth are being seen holding bats and balls besides laptops and holding guns and stones is a history.”
He said, “this huge transformation has pinched the parties like National Conference and PDP whose shops were being run on stone pelting and terrorist activities. With huge participation of youth in sports activities, centre extended full support with huge budget for the first time. The shops of political parties have been closed forever with youth rejecting violence and preferring sports as their career.”
Thakur expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their all out support to JK youth.
