Kupwara Police held 02 militant associates, 06 grenades recovered

The Kupwara police on Thursday arrested two militant associates with six grenades in the main market of Kupwara.

According to a police statement,  ‘on the basis of specific information regarding the movement of ANEs, Kupwara Police established a special Naka at main Market Town Kupwara.

During checking two persons were found in suspicious condition, on seeing the search party tried to escape from the spot but was chased and apprehended by the search party.

The apprehended persons on preliminary questioning disclosed their identity as, Jahangir Ahmad Hajam S/O Mangta Hajam R/O Khawarpara Tangdhar, and Ab Hameed Hajam S/O Mangta Hajam R/O Khawarpara Tangdhar.”

On their personal search, 06 Live grenades were recovered from their possession which they were to provide to militants.
In this context a Case FIR No. 160/2021 U/s 3/4 Explosive Substance Act has been registered in Police Station Kupwara and further investigation into the matter is under process.
